2008 LEFA Fund Summer Raffle Rules
The Law Enforcement Family Assistance Fund is incorporated as a nonprofit corporation under the laws of the State of Nevada, for the primary purpose of providing assistance to the immediate family of police officers killed in the line of duty. The LEFA Fund Summer Raffle ("Raffle") is conducted for the purpose of generating funds to support the activities of the LEFA Fund.

1. Waiver/Limitations of Liability
Each entrant, by entering the Raffle, agrees to abide by all of the rules and conditions contained herein, as well as all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations, and further agrees to release the LEFA Fund and its directors, officers, agents, and employees from any and all liability with respect to all aspects of the Raffle including, but not limited to, the selection process. Entrants, by participating (and winners accepting prizes) release the LEFA Fund officers, partners, and agents, including advertising and promotion agents, from any and all liability with respect to participation in the promotion and possession or use of the prizes awarded. Furthermore, entrants will not hold LEFA Fund responsible or liable for any or all accidents, theft, or damages resulting by their participation in this event.

 

2. Certificate Purchase
The cost to purchase a single entry ("Certificate") for the Raffle is $50.00 and is not tax deductible. Certificates may only be purchased over the Internet (Paypal.com), by visiting www.lefafund.org, by sending payment and registration form (click here to download registration form) to 316 California Avenue, #846, Reno NV 89509, or by calling our toll free number, 1-866-955-3323, between 8:00am and 3:00pm Monday through Friday. Certificate payment can be made by Visa, Mastercard, Discover, E-check, check or money order. Please make checks payable to "LEFA Fund". If an entrant's payment is dishonored by the bank for any reason such entrant's Certificate will be declared invalid unless full and satisfactory payment is made prior to the Raffle drawing. Any dishonored credit card will be considered an invalid entry, and LEFA Fund will endeavor to notify the entrant. Payment and completed registration forms must be in the possession of LEFA Fund by 5:00 PM on Saturday, November 07, 2008 to be eligible for the Grand Prize drawing. Any registration forms and payments (including payments previously dishonored) received after closure of the Raffle will be returned to the entrant. The LEFA Fund assumes no liability for lost, late, mutilated, illegible, or undeliverable entries. Entries received without proper payment will be deemed invalid and shall be immediately disqualified. Any funds received without a completed registration form will be considered a donation. Raffle Certificates are non refundable and non-transferable. All Certificate sales are final.

 

3. Prizes
GRAND PRIZE -
Option 1: Build your own 2008 Mini Cooper Clubman (up to $22,000).

Option 2: Build your own 2008 Harley-Davidson (up to $22,000).

Option 3: $22,000.

 

EARLY BIRD PRIZES
(3) $1,000 Gas Cards (Visa/Mastercard)

 

If a vehicle is chosen, the winner will be able to select vehicle options (up to $22,000) at a dealership in Nevada. If the total price of the vehicle with selected options exceeds $22,000, the excess will be the responsibility of the winner. Timing of the delivery of the vehicle will depend on availability. Due to the high demand, delivery may take time.

 

All prize winners are responsible for all cost associated with title, registration, licensing, delivery, and other applicable fees associated with their prize, as well as for all local, state, and federal taxes, including but not limited to without limitation, all luxury, special, and income taxes that may be applicable. Winners will be required to provide LEFA Fund with valid social security number and must complete all IRS and similar forms requested by LEFA Fund prior to delivery of their prize. Failure to do within thirty (30) days of request shall result in an automatic forfeiture of such winners prize.

 

4. Drawing
Winners will be determined by random drawings of all the eligible Certificates received by the entry deadline. The Grand Prize Drawing will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2008. The Early Bird Drawings will be held on Friday, August 15, 2008, Friday, August 29, 2008, and Friday, September 5, 2008. Winners need not be present to win. Drawing is not open to the public.

 

5. Modification or Cancellation of Drawing
LEFA Fund reserves the right to cancel or modify the Raffle. If sufficient Certificates are not sold by Saturday, November 1, 2008, LEFA Fund at its option, may modify the Raffle by withdrawing the Grand Prize and split the remaining net proceeds (income less expenses) equally between the Grand Prize Winner and LEFA Fund (50/50 pot) payable by check.

 

6. Winning Chance
Each Certificate sold represents one chance to win. The overall chances of winning will be based on the number of Certificates sold. Each Early Bird drawing winner is eligible to win all sebsequent drawings. You may enter as many times as you like. If 3000 Certificates are sold, the odds of winning the Grand Prize is 1 in 3000. The odds of winning a prize in the Early Bird drawing depends on the number of eligible Certificates sold prior to those drawings. The overall chances of winning are 1 in 750.

 

7. Notification of Winner
Winner will be notified in writing via Registered Mail or requisite procedure to claim prize. Winners name will be posted at www.lefafund.org within five (5) calendar days of the drawing. Winning entrant is required to inform LEFA Fund within seven (7) calendar days from notification of their choice of Grand Prize. Winner has up to thirty (30) calendar days after notification to finalize the process (including payment of taxes etc.) If winning entrant is unable to be contacted or located after a period of one (1) month from the draw date, the prize will be donated to LEFA Fund. Three (3) attempts will be made to contact the winning entrant via Registered Mail at the address provided on the Registration form, and via e-mail and phone as provided.

 

8. Awarding of Prize
If more than one name is listed on a registration from, the first name listed shall be deemed to be the entrant. Delivery or payment of any prize shall be made solely to the entrant. It is the sole responsibility of the entrant in a multiple party entry to allocate any such prize among the participants in a multiple party entry.

 

9. Taxes and IRS Rules
Winner is responsible for any and all federal, state, and local income or excise tax, fees, assessments, and like charges associated with the prize. Vehicle winner will be responsible for any and all state or local tax, license, title, insurance, and registration fees associated with the vehicle. Winner will be responsible for any and all delivery fees and/or are responsible for retrieval of their prize. If winner opts for the $22,000 Grand Prize, payment to winner will be full $22,000.00 with applicable taxes paid by winner, The IRS has taken the position that amounts paid for chances to participate in lotteries, raffles, or similar programs are not gifts and therefore, the price of entry does not qualify as a deductible charitable contribution.

 

10. Authority and Control
The decision of LEFA Fund shall be final in all matters concerning the Raffle. The Raffle is subject to the laws of the State of Nevada. Void where prohibited by law.

 

11. Release
Entrants, by participating, agree to allow LEFA Fund to use their names, photos, and any statement made by them regarding the prize in promotional material without compensation. The LEFA Fund will not, for any reason, sell personal information from entries to other organizations.

 

12. Eligibility
All entrants must be 18 years of age or older and submit a completed registration form, (available online at www.lefafund.org or by calling 1-866-955-3323). Employees of the LEFA Fund their immediate family members, members of the LEFA Fund's Board of Directors and their immediate family members, and agents and prize suppliers their immediate family members are not eligible to participate in the Raffle.
